hi list, I've been mucking about my system this morning installing and configuring the Mailman program. I decided to install and test this critter on my system here at home before actually replacing Majordomo at work. When I first attempted to acess the web interface administration I was greeted with this message:
----> Mailman CGI error!!! The expected gid of the Mailman CGI wrapper did not match the gid as set by the Web server. The most likely cause is that Mailman was configured and installed incorrectly. Please read the INSTALL instructions again, paying close attention to the --with-cgi-gid configure option. This entry is being stored in your syslog: Failure to exec script. WANTED gid 99, GOT gid 48. (Reconfigure to take 48?) <---- So, my first inclination was to open /etc/passwd file and change this line from: apache:x:48:48:Apache User:/var/www: to: apache:x:48:99:Apache User:/var/www: Does anyone have any idea as to whether or not this will break apache or hinder the correct operation of apache in any way, or is this the correct solution to this trouble? thanks, -- daRcmaTTeR Registered Linux User 182496 Mandrake 8.1 --------------------------------------------------------------------- 12:05pm up 6 days, 3:54, 2 users, load average: 0.06, 0.19, 0.24
