You need lm_utils as well and it is not installed by default, because lm_sensors at this time destrroys some laptop motherboards by overwriting a non-flashable soldered in PROM.
But if you are not using an IBM ThinkPad A20, 770, 600, or 660, you can use software Manager to call for lm_utils then run something like gkrellm which is a nice graphical front-end to monitoring. Civileme
