Hmm. Also, do 'netstat -a', 'route', and 'ifconfig' and save the output in file(s) when the network is working so you compare to the same output when the network quits. And what exactly happens when it 'goes stale'? Can you ping anything on the local net? How about remote? How about traceroute to a system on the local (and then on a remote) network? What kind of ethernet card? I've seen a situation where a certain ethernet card (wish I could remember which one!) would quit working after a certain number of characters were sent through it! We ended up returning that ethernet card... rc
