All,
I've been handed a bit of a challenge. To get an old 486DX2
notebook with dual pcmcia cards to boot linux and serve as a
gateway/router. I'm using a 2.2..19 kernel supposedly created for
i386. However when booting it gets to the point

Clearing unused kernel memory 72k

and then hangs. It's not locked up (hitting return advances the
screen) it just hangs. The same drive pulled out and put into a
desktop does boot. With only 12 megs ram (yes odd size but that's
what it has) I've not installed any X related features. It's straight
command line. Do I need to move back to a 2.0 kernel? Unfortunately
there is no error log or error reported to the screen.

Other possibity. Since this box doesn't support any kind of cdrom I
installed from a desktop box and then reinstalled the i386 kernel (it
grabbed the i686 version for the desktop)

Thanks in advance for the help.

James
