Let me throw another card in the pot.

The ATI Xpert 2000

It uses the Rage 128 chip, has 32MB r, and is fully supported in all versions
of linux using X-3.3.6 or > and in FreeBSD.

It can handle both the refresh and rez at which you wish to run and at about
half the price of the Radeon 7200.

And should you wish to go sliding with tuxracer, it can handle that 
as well.
