All,
I recently was required to finally update my old and trusting K6-III Not cause I
needed extra speed but the ps/2 ports on the mobo burned out. Ok. I went with a
TUV4X and a Celeron 950mhz. Why because all my peripherals (from Dimms to SVGA) work
with this combo.

Which brings me to to crux of the problem. Does any of this sound familiar?

Install hangs during boot.
Unable to acces HDD's correctly.
CDrom not recognized during boot.
Kernel panic on second stage install.
Corrupted partition tables.
System tries to put everything on the same IRQ
Cards that previously worked not recognized.

And the cause..... One of my PC133 mem sticks worked fine at 100mhz. Even tested
fine. However when you upped the speed to 133mhz it crapped out. Seems to me that in
the last 24 hours I've been through every install problem on the list and it was all
caused by one single Dimms. Put the Dimms in another box that runs a 100mhz bus.. no
sweat. Started checking around with Techs and found some intresting things.

Dimms and DDR memory marked at one speed but if you check the chip numbers against
data books, they really are another. Samsung 512 Memory not working with certain
Mobo's. Every tech I talked with has had his share of Memory chip weirdness. Moral
of the story. If it isn't installing .... Check your memory. The faster the box goes
the greater the damage a small error can do.
