And the verdict is:

Well, I went over to the cooker site, and this time was able to track
down libgal10 (I swear, I looked before, and it wasn't there!!!!).
I dl'd that, and a few others (to satisfy some dependencies). In total,
I Upgraded, or installed the following packages:

Updates:
evolution-1.0.1-1mdk.i586.rpm
evolution-devel-1.0.1-1mdk.i586.rpm
gtkhtml-1.0.1-2mdk.i586.rpm
libgal19-0.19-2mdk.i586.rpm
libGConf1-1.0.7-2mdk.i586.rpm
libgtkhtml20-1.0.1-2mdk.i586.rpm

New Software:
libcapplet1-1.5.11-1mdk.i586.rpm
libcapplet1-devel-1.5.11-1mdk.i586.rpm

NOTE 1:
libcapplet was a new package I needed to install to satisfy a
dependancy.

NOTE 2:
The devel packages were an oversight, and probably not necessary. I
included them on this list because I "did" install them, and it "could"
have an effect on the overall outcome.

NOTE 3:
Since this involved installing libraries, and a new package, I rebooted
the woekstation, just as a precaution.

Result:

Works like a charm. It remembers passwords, and prints just fine. I see
NO degradation in performance, or capability with this new version.

This just adds fuel to my fire about these installations being
inconsistant. I've seen reports of Evolution 1.0.1 causing such severe
instability that people have downgraded back to 1.0, or refused to use
it all. Others cannot print, others won't remember passwords, some have
lost all previous settings, etc..

It seems to be a lottery on whether your installation will be stable or
not.
I guess I'm just lucky, at least with respect to Evolution.

For me the filters are still a bit quirky (I use IMAP, with extensive
folders, and filters...). But so far, I think I can live with it.
