Thanks Alexander, here's the output:

[root@casper ken]# lsof -i :3
COMMAND  PID USER   FD   TYPE DEVICE SIZE NODE NAME
mcserv  2267 root    4u  IPv4   4628       TCP *:compressnet (LISTEN)

I never noticed this untill after my aborted attempt at Internet connection 
sharing. With the IPv4 in the line it makes me suspect something to do with 
that.
