Bah! Sound problems continue. I finally got alsa to actually work with my laptop's Solo1 card but there are still artsd/KDE problems with sound. After the initial fix and bootup, sound worked fine. On all subsequent bootups sound fails upon loading KDE with a bunch of messages:
"MCOP authority file is wrong size (just starting?)" "Soundserver warning message: Can't register Arts::Midimanager" (repeated 2 times) and "Soundserver warning message: _useRemote without prior_copyRemote() - this might fail sometimes" (repeated 11 times) The end result is no sound in KDE until I open up kcontrol and restart artsd. >From there, sound works until the next reboot. I once deleted all my "temporary" mcop-/ksocket- entries in /tmp and deleted all the .DCOP* and related entries in my home directory and rebooted. Sound worked fine then but on the next reboot, same old errors and the need to manually restart artsd. Anyone have a clue? I'd like to dispense with this problem once and for all and stop manually restarting artsd every time I login. On Wednesday 06 February 2002 11:39 am, Chris L.
