Rob, ooosh, severe eh! This is what I'm trying to avoid, the later post suggesting renaming .kde to .kde.old will do the same thing and keep a good record of what was what - as always I'd just got everything 'right' :(
starting konqueror from a terminal is really weird. I get nothing at all, no errors, no seg faults, nada zip. The process doesn't even seem to start. I've now got 5 old konquerors trying to start on logging in. None of them do a thing they just hang. And I cant seem to stop them starting??? Another post suggests killing the flash 5 plugin. I'll try that then moving .kde to .kde.old . It's a real shame about this, in that, kde has always gone abit odd for me after about 4 months of medium heavy use. Every version does something weird after this amount of time. It's always something different, but it always happens - last one was the menu going absolutely bonkers in one user, I mean to the point of being funny :) . Usually migrating to a new user will sort it but its truly annoying to have to. I'll keep people posted if anything comes of their suggestions - and again cheers for the prompt replies :) Si *****************NEW DEVELOPEMENT************ Weirder still, if I let the konquerors that are trying to start up die off, then start kppp, then start a konqueror again, about half the time i get konqueror to start, otherwise I'm left in the doldrums still. This is so strange! -----Original Message----- From: Rob <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Thu, 14 Feb 2002 10:23:56 +0000 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [expert] konqueror probs any ideas??? > try starting from a terminal window and see > what output is said when it dies. > > more server delete your ~/.kde > directory.
