Hi Norman
Thankyou for your responce ,
The reason I spoke of DHCP is because
I had Samba working one way (ie I could see the shares on my MDK8.0
box from my wifes win98 machine ,& read and write to these shares )
but I did not back up the config file ,
I then went through and set up internet connection sharing with the wizard
silly me i hear every one say but we all live and learn.
Now i can't remember what i did to set samba up (I was stomping aroud making
change after change and not really noting what I was doing silly me again)
although I think I am pretty close I can see the shares on the win 98 machine
in gnomba but can't mount these shares .
I think my problem is to do with my shares.
I shall post my conf file.

There is another problem in swat it tells me that nmbd is not running
and it will not start but if I type
[root@localhost /root]# samba status
smbd (pid 2335) is running...
nmbd (pid 1541) is running...
I get this result (strange)
Any help would be apprieciated.
