Using A Terminal Emulator within a Windows 95 or 98 OS,
I can telnet to a Unix host, login, and run a terminal
session.

Normally all data sent back to the terminal is displayed
on the terminal screen; however, if I precede the data
with the escape sequence, <ESC>[5i, and follow the data
with the escape sequence, <ESC>[4i, then the first escape
sequence redirects the data to the attached printer
(auxillary port on an actual dumb terminal), and the
second escape sequence redirects the data back to the
terminal screen.

Since I can use a Konsole session emulate a terminal and
telnet to a Unix Host, I figured it would be possible to
do the same thing; however, the special codes are not
trapped by the Konsole to redirect data to the printer.
It may even be that the esc codes are stripped by the
Linux system. I cannot tell because I also cannot the
data to a file to do a hex dump on it.

Is there anyway to trap these codes using Konsole and do
passthru printing? Passthru printing is a very flexible
way to use remote printers. It means that the network
administrator need not be concerned with them.

TIA,

John Hemmer

PS. It also means that I can get away from using Windows.
