Something funky is really going on. I installed 8.2 on Wednesday evening and
all was well and I had rebooted 2-3 times since the first install. But last
night something funky happened.

Btw. I've got a Nvidia TNT2(32megs) card and a HP4033A monitor.

Last night, while streaming my fav radio station, I decided to install XMMS
presets(converted by someone from Wimamp to XMMS). The presets weren't
showing so I closed xmms and tried to reload it and it just wouldn't. I
would look like its loading then disapear.

So I logged off restarted X server and went back into KDE and still xmms
wouldn't start. So reboot I would would fix the problem. This is when the
problem all started. Just after you get the login prompt the screen flickers
like it's about to go to the NVIDIA splash screen and then back to the
prompt again. Then after a few seconds it says it's going to level 3 and I'm
back at the prompt.

btw: I did recompile and install the nvidia kernal and glx JUST in case.

I reboot again and this time I went into FAILSAFE, after the text menu comes
up I select GRAPHICAL option, it boots fine into Xwindows(and KDE), I also
get the splash screen for NVidia as well.

Shutdown reboot back to normal linux startup and nothing, back to the same
old thing at the prompt.

Here's a copy of my XFree log file after I log in and type STARTX(yes I know
small caps)
I've attached the log file.
