[expert] dialog, script error -- maybe OT

Hello All:
  I'm trying to diagnose a problem I'm having with the Mandrake 8.2
  supplied version of the dialog utility (cdialog 0.9a). I have the
  following section of script which copies from one directory to
  another:

  for item in `cat ${HOME}/tmp/FILELIST`
      do
         dialog --infobox "$item" 5 50 cp ${MOUNT_POINT}/${IMAGE_PATH}/${item} \
                  ${BASE_DIR}/${NEW_DIRECTORY}/${item}
      done

  It *should* flash the name of the individual items in /tmp/FILELIST as
  it runs through the loop. Instead....nothing.  The files copy
  correctly but there is no feedback from the dialog program. Anyone
  know how to get this to work?
