The only problem I remember in converting the inetd entries to xinetd
files.  My client xinetd files look something like:

service amanda
{
socket_type = dgram        
protocol = udp
wait = yes
user = bin
server = /path/to/amandad
}

all of the amanda stuff built from scratch.  Worked fine with Amanda
2.4.2p2 with an Amanda 7.2 server.  I am updating that server to
Mandrake 8.2 this wednesday on new hardware and Amanda will be updated
too.  I will take notes.
