Hi All, I'm trying to update my old gateway laptop from mandrake 7.2 to 8.2. It is a 166 pentium with 128Megs. It has a free partition of 0.92G where I'm trying to install the new version while keeping the old 7.2 version on another partition.
When I install everything seems to go fine until it tries to reboot where it hangs. At this stage even the power-button will not work and the only thing to do is pull the power-plug. On reboot I get a kernal panic "...Kernel panic: No init found..." Under 8.1 errata there is there is some mention of this happening with SCSI/RAID adapters. My laptop have neither.
