Well, OK, I use the mix (-m) switch 'cause I almost always
combine mp3's from different sources/CD's/artists. This keeps all
the volume levels very near equal. Same thing is true with wav's
ripped ( cdparanoia -vB 1- /home/tom/wav/wav ) from commercial CD's.
>From 'man normalize' : "In batch mode, all the specified files are
considered to be part of a single album and their relative volumes are
preserved." I don't want that, I wanna 'em volume equalized. I
don't like the CD player in the truck jumpin out at me ever once in a
while with a loud song ;)
As to mono (?). A lot of the mp3's I d/l are 50's hits and are
mono. Some less than 44.1hz. I've never had a problem with them not
burnin properly. Maybe this is a hardware specific problem. (I've
got a Plextor 8432) Disk at once (-dao) also seems to have no
specific rewards/problems for audio burns. It does affect md5sums for
bootable .iso's tho. Still i don't use it, I like to keep switches/
options to a bare minimum. better results... YMMV ;>
Could be I've got a lot to learn... I'm sort'a a recent convert
to CD burnin on the CL. Mostly 'cause GUI's often prove to be a
problem lately, and I've found CL burnin to be easier/quicker/problem
free, specially for 700mb/80min CDr's. It's also more fun ;)
