Dear All Knowing guys,
okay I have a pc which is set up as a dual boot. The Linux setup uses
Mandrake 8.1, and everything works pretty much, except when I try and telnet
to a remote Solaris machine.

I use telnet 'address', and get a prompt

Connected to address (ip address)
Escape character is '^]'.

SunOS 5.8

login:

when I enter my username (or anything) and hit return then the cursor returns
to the beginning of the login line, no password prompt. It stays like this
for a couple of minutes, and then presumably times out, giving me the
standard bash prompt.

I've tried to run the telnet with the -n switch to provide a tracefile, but
it doesn't write anything to the file.

I've searched on Google, but not found anything particularly helpful.

I'm pretty sure its not a problem with the networking locally as when I boot
into Windows I can telnet to the same box without any problem. This leads to
the ironic situation where I have to drop out of Linux to go into Windows in
order to work remotely on a Sun box!

Thanks in anticipation
