All, The 2gb limit should have left us with the 2.0 kernel However heres an intresting article that starts us on the road to multiTERABYTE file sizes.
http://www.gelato.unsw.edu.au/~peterc/lfs.html James Found more info, seems we are limited..... to a 2 terabyte file system. I'm personally curious on this because I just did a backup of my home directory and a re-install when i moved to 8.2 and my /home tarball was 11gb in size, I moved it from my main drive to a 13gig Maxtor all done in reiserfs without a hitch.... of course it wasn't a quick move. (moved off while I slept one night, while at work the next day.) http://kerneltrap.org/node.php?id=186 On Tue, 14 May 2002 10:54:52 -0400 Randy Kramer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > dfox wrote: > > I figure we won't be needing anything greater than > > that anytime soon :). > > Transporters and holodecks will require unimaginable file sizes. > > ;-) > > sorry, couldn't resist, > Randy Kramer > >
