I can't recall if it was discussed recently in this list or not but I would
swear that not too long ago someone mentioned a problem with orinoco cards
and the yenta_socket module. I have an orinoco gold card installed on a
Mandrake 8.2 system, using the wvlan_cs module with the yenta_socket. No
matter what I try, I simply cannot get the card to communicate with my laptop
which is using a zoomair prism2 card (which works perfectly).

I thought someone mentioned an alternative to the yenta_socket because it
caused them problems. I do not know if it is part of my problem but I will
try anything at this point. I flat-out do not understand why the two
systems/wlan cards will not talk.

It is setup as ad-hoc, channel 6, and both are pointing to the same ESSID.
If I run kismet (the wlan sniffer) on my laptop, it will pickup the desktop
containing the orinoco, though for some reason it will not display it - it
does create a log file indicating that it saw the orinoco, what ESSID it was
seeking, and so forth. Anyway, it is not working properly at this point (the
orinoco). Could someone toss me a bone here?
