I'm running ML 8.2. It seems that somehow, when doing the install, I
managed to disallow root logins at the console. (Running X at startup.)

I know I've got the root password right, because I can log in with my
regular user ID and then su with the root password. But typing "root" as
the user in the login box results in a "bad login" message even though I'm
entering the correct password.

Now before someone replies with a lecture, :-) let me assure you that I
don't run as root all the time. But there *are* times when I'm going to be
working on configurations and so on, and it's a lot more convenient to just
login *as* root, rather than have 7 shell windows open, all su'd. :-)

So if someone can point me to the config file setting that's disallowing
root login at the console, I'd apprecaite it.
