[new] Anybody have a WACOM USB tablet working with LM 8.1? Can it be done without building a new kernel?
[old] I finally got my Sony USB mouse to work with LM 8.1 on my VAIO laptop. Problem was too much out of date info on the 'net. No need to add modules or create /dev/input/mice. In the end, all I had to do was edit /etc/sysconfig/usb and change mouse=no to (da dah) mouse=yes and create /dev/usbmouse with a symbolic link to /dev/misc/psaux. After that, cat /dev/usbmouse produced all sorts of wunnerfull junk on the screen. The last step was to edit /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 and add a second PS/2 mouse fed by /dev/usbmouse. My only complaint now is that after unplugging the mouse it does not return when I plug it back in, even tho /var/log/messages shows it was found and recognized. XFree86 doesn't appear to have a way to cope with hot plugging a USB mouse. Gary Dunn Open Slate Project
