The first 2 times ended in heartache -- the "update packages" part failed miserably, requesting disc #1 over and over again, even though it was in the drive. After try #3, which I said "no" to the updates prompt and finally made it through the installation routine, the box rebooted and gave me the graphical KDM login. All through the installation, my Microsoft USB IntelliMouse Explorer worked perfectly... but after the post installation reboot, the mouse pointer would only move vertically when I moved the mouse from side to side.. and wouldn't move horizontally at all, no matter which way I moved the mouse. Not condusive to a good graphical experience, eh? :-) Anyways, I was wondering if there is a way to upgrade Mandrake to the latest and greatest of everything from the command prompt? Perhaps there are updated USB and/or XFree86 packages that will fix this mess. Once I can get into X and have a properly working mouse, I should be ok.. but until then, I'll just wait until I hear back from you.
