Are you sure??  I have a Linux box getting users and passwords via NIS
off a Solaris server and have no problems using the same password on the
Linux box and the Sun's as well.

I think I have even just copied the hashed passwords from one system to
another without problems but am not sure if my memory is serving me
correctly.
