I'm trying to configure some DNS settings and am stumped by the exact nature
of an FQDN.

The system is firewalled, and the external domain name is 1-2-3-4.isp.net.
However, I have DNS record pointing 1.2.3.4 to system.company.com, creating
a situation whereby 1-2-3-4.isp.net and system.company.com both point to the
firewall at 1.2.3.4, which provides NAT.

When setting up things requiring DNS (like Postfix and SMTP stuff), what is
best to use for the FQDN? I'm having trouble with replying to emails sent
from the linux box to the outside world. I'm thinking this is related to a
misconfigured Postfix DNS option. The error files are not particularly
helpful, as they only indicate that an error has occurred. No transcript is
available. I'm thinking this is DNS related because I can send email from
the Linux box to the outside, send a new message from the outside into the
Linux box, but not reply to a message sent Linux->Outside. The MX records
are correct, so far I can tell. The MX points to system.company.com.

Any suggestions on where I might look? I've looked over the /var/log/mail
files and seen nothing indicating any resolution to this.

Regards,
Nathan
