I remember that even my friend (Abit m/b, linux 8.2) has problems when 
rebooting using the button and the menu in the login window. It once (the 
oly time he used this feature..) destroyed the MBR!! (this happened when he 
chose "Windows" from the list, he never rebooted with linux.. of course).
If he turn off the pc and power up again nothing bad happens.

... I got the solution!!!

Mandrake hacked the gdm logn window: if you try to reboot with windblows 
you'll get your pc destroyed!!
Very Microsoft-ish behavior!!
