For some reason, some of the required programs are not installed.
That's your first problem.

As a result, the X server did not start.

$DISPLAY is a variable that is required for X operation.  It's just
another symptom of the missing programs listed above.

You need to find which rpm is not installed properly or completely.

Post the results of 'df -h'.  That might provide some insight into what
is going on.  (I think you ran out of hard drive space).
