I freshly installed Mandrake 9.0 on my Compaq Armada 7800 (P2-300 / 64mb),
and have the following problem.

I cannot enable DMA on my harddrive or DVD-ROM (making DVD-playback
painfully choppy). hdparm reports that the operation is not supported, yet
I do indeed have DMA enabled in Windows. Upon bootup, I get the following
error lines:

PCI_IDE: unknown IDE controller on PCI bus 00 device 71, VID=0e11,
DID=ae33
PCI: Device 00:0e.1 not available because of resource collisions
PCI_IDE: (ide_setup_pci_device:) Could not enable device

I upgraded to the -ac4 kernel ,which seems to have fixed the problem for
users of particular chipsets, but had no effect on my Compaq Armada 7800
(Compaq Triflex Dual EIDE controller). Well, it eliminated the kernel
error messages, but upon hdparm -d1 /dev/hda, I still get:

HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted

What gives?
