Thanks for that.

I've never used sed before.  Do I need a language like Python in order
to add logic like "Lower case _the_ except when it is at the start of
the line, which it should be title case" etc.?  Can RE's handle all that
when one is sufficiently skillled?  Is there a repository of sed
commands somewhere that show how to get mixed case, handle acronyms
(which should have their own special format etc.)?  It's not exactly a
new problem :-)
