One more thing that might be of help. On the box you set up as the
"test" version as described below. Using Mandrake Control Center I
would modify the menu removing what I don't want them playing with from
the list. (user menu not root you may want those features for yourself
as root)

Then copy of .kde and .kderc from that model user (and if you want to
put Icons on the Desktop grab the Desktop dir as well.

When you install the box. Via the instructions below all boxes will be
"identical" in installation. Then copy the .kde .kderc and Desktop to
the users home directory and chown -R this to the username you need.
(Note if the user is always the first one installed and gets the same
user and group number chown might not be needed.) Now every box will
have the same kde-theme, same menu, same icons same everything.

To make your life super easy. During install create one user the same
user on every box. Set it up to auto login to KDE under that user. and
then put .kde .kderc and Desktop into a tarball untar it in that user
dir and poof every box is the same ... it acts like windows and without
access to a term window or a full menu, it's gonna be hard for them to
do much more than "work" *grin*
