FWIW, my 3 Mandrake boxes all have

/etc/group - sshd:x:94:
/etc/passwd - sshd:x:94:94::/home/sshd:/bin/true

/var/empty exists on all 3 and two have /var/empty/sshd (which is empty - no files).

Bascule,

The line from my passwd file is

sshd:x:75:75:system user for openssh:/var/empty:/bin/true

I checked 3 MDK boxes and they all had exactly the same line. Hope this
helps.
