I have added a SCSI controller and a SCSI tape drive to one of my
machines (Mandrake 9.0). When I installed the O/S the SCSI card wasn't
installed. Both of these new devices worked fine in their earlier
installation (a different machine running Mandrake 7) and I'm sure
they're both good. They do not seem to be identified at bootup in the
new machine.

Harddrake shows the controller in the "other" category when I look at
the system.

How do I get the SCSI controller to be identified and have the necessary
module loaded at bootup? I have tried "modprobe sym53c8xx" at the
command line, whereupon the tape drive responds and moves the tape for a
little bit, but that's as far as I've gotten.

Any help will be appreciated.

Bruce
