I am not sure if this is off-topic.
I am not sure if this is normal in other Linux distributions or is it just the way Samba works. Out of the two Samba daemons (smbd & nmbd) nmbd, responsible for making your computer visible and accessible in the Window Network neighborhood dies when no network is not connected or disconneted anytime.
Mine is a laptop which I put in suspend mode, or occasionally remove the network cable while moving from one room to other. When I do this, the nmbd daemon dies and thus others cannot see or access my machine in Network neighborhood. This typical behaviour is not seen in laptops running Windows OS ?
Can anybody shed any light on this. Is this just Mandrake specific problem or not?
