You can test the functionality of your changes yourself without having to drive 50 miles to the site. I'm assuming that the proxy server is running on the firewall. SSH to the box and edit /etc/lynx.cfg and make it use the proxy on localhost. Then you can check to see how the changes you have instituted are working out using lynx. Blue skies...
