The mpg I've never seen... The exe it would seem to me wouldn't be executable because it's a Windows Binary and won't run under Linux. (Be grateful in a way... less hassle with win virus's) The only way out here might be crossover office and run OOo for windows. As for the mpg. a number of mpg players can run it ...IF you can get to it. Problem probably is that there is a windows binary that "executes" winplayer only.
