Speaking of which...I have discovered a reliable way to produce an rpm database problem, at least with Mandrake 8.2. Run "rpm -qa" and stop it before it finishes with a Ctrl-C (it will proceed to list every single rpm installed with the aforementioned command). For me, every time, it wrecks the database and requires that I do a rebuilddb. Why do this in the first place? By accident. I have been looking for a specific subset of packages but hit the "Enter" key before entering the rest of the search parameters. I _mean_ to do an "rpm -qa|grep <some word>" and instead sometimes hit "Enter" and run the truncated command. praedor
