Konqueror on my athlon system is just plain broken. I have tried installing the mandrake rpm from the macromedia site for shockwave and it only worked for mozilla and galeon (probably would work with almost any other browser too except konqueror). I then removed it and installed the plugin from the tarball. Same thing. No worky for konqueror. I deleted all my ../netscape dirs and stuck with ONLY mozilla directories. Still no worky. I reinstalled plugger (which recreates the netscape directories and links to its plugins directory within the mozilla plugins dir). No worky. I deleted all shockwave file associations in konqueror and did a rescan for plugins. It finds the plugins and they look normal but they do NOT work.
I tried using Crossover plugin and it failed. Konqueror insists on erroring with a "Could not load netscape plugin for..." I tried starting konqueror from the CLI and then going to a flash page. Nothing. Not a thing to indicate a problem appeared on the konsole. I then tried starting konqueror with an strace and did the same thing. Nothing appears in the trace to indicate what the problem is - just that it is going through the netscape plugins view. It works fine on my laptop and as far as I can tell, there is no difference in the software/file associations nor plugins (and crossover works on the laptop too). Konqueror and only konqueror is defective on the system. So...this has been asked before but I never paid attention because I was OK with konqueror before now. How do I set the default kde browser to NOT be konqueror anymore?
