I have in my opinion a really high load on Emails due to mailinglists, and I had never problems with kmail. I think I have a current Email archiv of over 20.000 messages (I don't want delete them, often some usefull informations are in old mail). I have used eudora und several other clients under win and all of them failed on such a big archive. So I am pretty surprised to hear kmail not to be stable.
