I just updated to Mandrake 9.0 and I must say that the difference in CUPS
configuration between 9.0 and 8.2 is night and day. The biggest improvement is
in printer selection. I actually found my printer this time. Well, almost. And
that is the point of this post.

I have an IBM Network Printer 12. When I set up CUPS durring OS installation,
the only selectable item was for PostScript. The print test failed miserably
because I do not have a PS module in the printer.

I guess this leaves me a few choices:

1) Find/buy a PS module for a printer.
2) Choose an HP filter that does PCL instead (losing the printer-specific
capabilites)
3) Manually go in and try to take the CUPS output for the printer and pass it
though a second filter to convert to PCL.

Before I go running off to the CUPS site, can anyone offer any constructive
advice?

Thanks
