You sure are trying not to delete these partitions, yet you admit below that they don't work? Backup whatever is important if you haven't already and blow them away. Computer constructs can be thought of as pieces of meat from your refrigerator -- if you aren't sure how it got to be what you're looking at, the safe thing to do is throw it away. Eating it might be okay, or it might not. Keeping those crufty partitions around might be okay, but... Go back and look at my original mail where I suggested mounting the /dev/hda partitions under /mnt/a[whatever]. From subsequent mails it looks like you've mounted this partition under /mnt/80. The important thing isn't the path you've mounted at, it's making sure that you know which partition you're putting lilo on so you don't end up with two hosed installs instead of one :-) It might be better still to drop your MDK CD in, reboot, hit F1, and type rescue. Then you'll be able to work with all the disk partitions with a completely new mounting structure that might be clearer. > > lilo is on the hda install and reads from /boot on the hda install as > that's where the mbr is. > > If I copy over the hdb install to hda, I loose lilo since it's not been > installed on the second OS ( hdb ) > even if I copy /boot from hda and restore it to hda after the change, > I'll still need to install lilo and adjust it right?
