Well that just shows how much the kernel changed inbetween 8.2 and 9.0. Remove that line from /etc/modules.conf and that will get rid of the loop. As for how to make it automatic, look in /etc/hotplug/usb directory. You'll have to put a script there that will modprobe that module in. Blue skies...
