Praedor.... check for any __dbxx files in /var/lib/rpm. and then remove them...... and then try the rebuild... if this doesn't work,
You can do what I had to once. rpm -ivh rpmxxx.rpm --replacepkgs.... IF (and this is possible) you can't get rpm to re-install itself.. (and this is dirty) I once did an rpm -e on rpm it'self... (don't ask to long awake and too little coffee) So what I did was copy rpm from another box to my home directory and do /home/james/rpm rpm.xxxx.rpm --replacepkgs. the replace pkgs switch means overwrite new even if it's already there.
