Well, Given that Fry's ( A local Electronics store) had D-Links DL-713P
wireless routers on sale for 89 US + a 50 buck mail in rebate I decided
to take the wireless plunge. (a box to replace the 7 year old pI I use
for my router/firewall that is dieing would cost more) OK I also bought
a wireless card for the laptop. So far so good. Routers installed. and
running (evidenced by this e-mail) ... BUT just like with my NIC card
9.0 is coughing and saying "What's D-Link?" Now to get the 10/100 nic
running I added this to /etc/pcmcia/config

card "D-Link DE-670 Ethernet"
  version "D-Link", "DFE-670TXD"
  bind "pcnet_cs"

Ok... card now works... Now comes the wireless card.... Did some
googling and found that a number of people got it to work under 8.2 with
this being added to /etc/pcmcia/config

card "D-Link Air DWL-650 IEEE 802.11b Wireless LAN Adaptor"
  version "D", "Link DWL-650 11Mbps WLAN Card", "Version 01.02", ""
  bind "prism2"

problem is 9.0 complains that prism2 is not a device. OK.... tried prism2_cs
Same BS.... then tried orinoco_cs... it like that... course the card doesn't
but pcmcia liked it. BTW modprobe prism2_cs does work... card doesn't but,,,,,
I feel I'm making some progress. Seems looking around that I either back out to
8.2 or build a stock linux kernel....

Any suggestions?

James
