You could install with the option --replacefiles which will replace your current /usr/share/info/dir with the one from the new package. However, it appears that the file /usr/share/info/dir on your 9.0 system is actually a symbolic link to /etc/info-dir. So, to avoid the possibility of ruining your info system, remove the new /usr/share/info/dir and reinstate the symbolic link. Update your existing info-dir file by running (as root): 'install-info <guile info file> /etc/info-dir'. The guile info file will be something like guile-info.bz2 in /usr/share/info. By the way, I've never looked at this info stuff before, so this advice is given after a cursory glance at the docs, but it sounds right to me :) I hope that helps. Regards, John...
