Mark,

I am running a local network behind a little router which is sharing the Internet connection.
So, the IP address of my machine is 192.168.1.2

when I issue the command "dig -x 192.168.1.2" this is what I receive (very quickly):
    ; <<>> DiG 9.2.1 <<>> -x 192.168.1.2
    ;; global options:  printcmd
    ;; Got answer:

Check the reverse.. "dig -x <IP address of IMAP server> +short"

How long did that take to resolve?

If you are finding lag in that area.. check the firewall software that
you are running on local PC.. The reason that this may not be
effecting your M$ Win machine, you probably have nothing interfering
with the UDP packets on the DNS ports..

Really I am just guessing what your problem could be.

Cheers
Mark
