No problem, but please next time, don't reply to an existing message to
start a new thread.  There is a header named "In-Reply-To:" and you
pressing the reply button makes every thread aware reader put your new
message at the end of an existing thread (or worse, in the middle).
Just press New Message and type in the listname.

The symlink can exist and point to nothing.  That's ok, but not
necessarily desirable.

Something is getting created, you just have to figure out which ones.
Kill the running devfsd daemon and then start it in debug mode to see
what it's doing.  In debug mode it won't daemonize, but will print
everything to stdout.

killall devfsd
devfsd -d /dev
