There is a group called the Linux Professional Institute
(http://www.lpi.org) that offers distribution-neutral exams.  So, your
statement is misleading.  It may not be a "LMCE" type exam, but it's more
for measuring the types of task a user (or admin) might be required to do,
then to measure their compentency on a single distro.  After all, just
because you are an RHCE, does not automatically mean that you'd know how to
add software to a slackware install.

(Of course, I could be biased, since I'm still on all the lpi discussion
lists.)
