   If I remember right  typing a <tab> at the prompt after doing f1 will
give you the available kernels.  There are additional ones available in
the past on disk 2 ... you might also try a text install.  It could well
be that the problem is the video card not being able to do Frame Buffer
( I ran into this recently ) and could explain the blank screen.
