from your 'df' return, you are low in both '/' and '/usr'. you need to do some drastic changes for '/' and '/usr', especially if you want to expand. unless you have a large spare drive, you may need to rebuild 'hda'.
what distribution??
what backup media do you have??
there are several ways you could avoid a reinstall, but before any suggestions, how about a look at fstab, and what drives actually are?
