Geez, I kinda feel like I should mark this OT since it's just a problem about Linux and my computer...
I'm trying to use a new MIB with ucd-snmp on Mandrake 9.0. I've started doing some reading, whoever named this Simple Network Management Protocol must have been thinking "Simple in comparision to building the Golden Gate Bridge" or something. Any way, it looks like the process is to use a series of tools which compile the mib into C code and then turn it into a loadable module which the snmpwalk and snmpd agents will then be able to access transparently. My problem is that the first tool in the chain, mib2c, dies with a complaint that Perl-SNMP isn't there. But it is. perl-Net-SNMP-4.0.2-1mdk perl-SNMP-MIB-Compiler-0.06-3mdk (out of Cooker as the 9.0 version refused to install because of a fubar'd dependencies statement; however the code is still 0.06.) I'm hesitant to start over from the latest source, which is of course the recommendation to all problems at net-snmp.souceforge.net. Any ideas? -- Jack Coates Monkeynoodle: A Scientific Venture...
